Last year I was in about 25 countries,” Will A. Stein, founder and president of Philip Stein Corporation, shared during his recent trip to Manila. His job certainly has him racking up frequent-flier
miles. “It feels like the world is becoming smaller—three days ago I was in Miami, now I’m in Manila, and in three days I’ll be in Hong Kong, then in Bangkok.” Besides the benefits of wearing a Philip Stein watch, this Miami-based businessman reveals other helpful ideas for business trips.

How is a Philip Stein watch perfect for travelers?
Every Philip Stein watch has two time zones, so you can set it to your destination’s time and your home country’s time. Another benefit is its special frequency technology, which balances the body’s natural frequency and flow of energy. So it helps you sleep better and relaxes you. Many people have said the watches helped them overcome jet lag.

What airlines do you like to take?
I am a great fan of Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Virgin Atlantic. As I am German, I also love Lufthansa. With these airlines, you come onboard and the planes just feel new—everything is clean and fresh. The service is excellent. The flight attendants are attractive and have the biggest smiles. This is important—you want to feel good, especially if you are on a long-haul flight.

Which hotels do you prefer to stay in?
I prefer smaller, boutique hotels, but when it’s not possible I like the Shangri-La chain for their friendliness and feel. I also like The Langham in Hong Kong—part of a smaller chain but excellent nonetheless.

Do you have any favorite restaurants or bars you like to have business meals in?
Last year when I was in Switzerland, I ate in this family-run hotel called Hotel Beau-Rivage in the town of Weggis. As we ate, we had a wonderful view of the snow-covered mountains. Service was excellent, and every night we had a five-course meal of French-Italian dishes.

Any tips you can offer for business travelers?
Instead of a briefcase, I always carry a backpack during business trips. It’s a chic leather design that hangs from my shoulder and keeps my hands free. I try to travel light as much as possible and not check in luggage.—

Philip Stein opens its first global boutique

Known for the frequency-based technology in its watches, Philip Stein has generated a serious cult following in Manila. So much so that the brand, together with its distributor the Lucerne Group, opened its very first standalone boutique in the world in the Philippines. “Manila is one of the world’s most-penetrated markets in terms of Philip Stein’s popularity and presence,” said Lucerne managing director Emerson Yao during the store opening at The Podium.

The brand also launched its “Feel It—Project Red Cross” program, which benefits the blood services of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC). Philip Stein chose popular host Kris Aquino as its endorser and a special watch was inspired by her: The diamond dial of the timepiece carries the letter K. The brand also donated one million pesos to the PNRC.
